New Supreme Court Rule on the Appellate Record

June 2, 2010

According to the Daily Report’s ATLaw blog, the Supreme Court today announced a rule change to address the new $10 per page fee for sending the appellate record from court clerks to the appropriate appellate courts.  Under the new Rules 67 and 69 which were unanimously adopted by the Court, parties may jointly prepare and certify the record to the Supreme Court instead of using the previous process, which involved the clerks preparing the record and sending it to the appellate courts.

The Court has posted a news release with details on the new change and quotes from the Chief Justice.  The rule change is an interim solution according to Chief Justice Hunstein.
